at the cnn headquarters in atlanta. here's what's making news. the occupy movement in new york now and throughout the day going global. it began as a public demonstration in a small park in lower manhattan on saturday, spread to cities around the world. tokyo, london, rome, sydney, hong kong, toronto, jakarta and indonesia, to name a few. it was a worldwide display of sympathy and solidarity with the protesters of occupy wall street. most were peaceful, though some arrests were reported. rome got ugly, throngs of peaceful demonstrators fled as anarchists began throwing moltov cocktails. shop windows were smashed, riot police moved in. occupy participants were upset by the outbreak of the violence saying their demonstration was hijacked. >>> prosecutors call it a first of its kind indictment charging a bishop and a catholic diocese for failing to report suspected child abuse. st. joseph, missouri, deny the offense which is a misdemeanor. the jackson county prosecutor says finn did not report for five months that a priest in his charge had child pornography. >>> and among the more of

for the lead. the iowa caucuses are set for january 3rd. well, this compares to a cnn poll taken just last week. that poll shows mitt romney in first with herman cain close behind. ron paul coming in third with 12% of those surveyed. ron paul was third in both of the polls we just mentioned, and he came in first yesterday in an iowa straw poll conducted among likely voters. 82% of the iowa conservatives attending the national federation of republican assemblies convention in des moines supported paul. herman cain was second at 15%. >>> despite those straw poll results, the group endorsed rick santorum for president just a few hours later. the nfra calls itself the nation's oldest and largest republican volunteer group. let's bring in cnn's senior political analyst and "national journal journal's" editorial director. here's another iowa straw poll. this outcome is different from the earlier iowa straw poll where michele bachmann was victorious. how important in the long run with the straw polls? >> reck president alan cranston? which tells you your answer, not very. in 1984 alan cranston had a s
